from seed to strategy

KÅSEHOLM FORUM traces its roots to the ”55º North” food and farming innovation initiative founded at Kåseholm in 2019, The initiative was funded by the European Regional Development Fund, and was developed in cooperation with the local Tomelilla municipality and Dan Barber, founder or Row 7 Seeds and Chef at Blue Hill at Stone Barns Center for Food And Agriculture in New York.

Its intention as a preliminary “seed project” was to implement a feasibility study concerning the possibility of creating a Nordic culinary center in Scania. The long term ambitions envisoned creating a place for cooperation, exchange of knowledge, experience and research, and specific project clusters focused on regenerative systems and technology development.

INVESTING IN A REGENERATIVE, NETWORKED FOOD CULTURE

The FORUM fundamentally recognizes that a sustainable food system requires a regenerative, networked food culture to support it. Together with its core partners, the FORUM conceives Scania as a prime and inspiring destination where strategies and practices for and solutions to ecologic, societal, geographic and technologic challenges connected to food can be conceived and shared.

Specifically, it proposes a creative environment where innovations confront the inter-connected issues related to climate change, regional migration, soil health and biodiversity, technology and logistics, among others, are debated, tested and distributed.

The FORUM seeks to further partner with companies, universities, researches, farmers, innovators and private individuals who share our vision and would like to contribute financial operational and investment capital and further collaborate and foster the initiative as ambassadors to our common cause.

INDEPEDENCE, integration & innovation

KÅSEHOLM FORUM is a center for exploration and innovation that investigates best practices with experimentation and research and distributes this information with its partner community. It is also an immersive physical environment for hosting a diverse community of farmers, chefs, scientists, researchers, educators, policy leaders and artisans.

Prioritizing independence in research, innovation, collaboration and consulting, FORUM is conceived of as a non-aligned, non-profit enterprise. Its deep institutional and private network of partners allows FORUM to address issues thoroughly, committed to its set of ecological principles.

As part of this multidisciplinary approach, FORUM also investigates and highlights matters that relate to eco-modernization and systemic eco-innovation and its diffusion. Together, FORUM is driven to develop and dissemenate solutions combining holistic ecological principles, social ecology and sustainable development.
